The Salon de Thé had its start in 1900 when the Neal brothers first served tea  and biscuits at two tables in their stationery shop on the Rue de Rivoli. Three years later, the posh salon de thé, Rumpelmayer opened its doors and soon became a favorite of Marcel Proust....the golden age of the tea salon had begun.
